Better Outcomes Consulting:
Helping Students with Disabilies and Families with
Transition Planning

Is your child prepared to obtain and access services in the college, university. or technical/trade school?

Is your child prepared with employment skills that assist with time management, social skills, and responsibility?

Is your child prepared with independent living skills to make the transition to college, university, or technical/trade school successful?

Transition planning for students with disabilities can be an overwhelming process. Families must determine outcomes and a path for how to reach those outcomes. IEP teams do not always have the time to fully explain the transition planning process and/or the supports and services that exist outside of the K-12 school environment. Better Outcomes Consulting can provide one on one support and assistance in reaching transition planning outcomes.

My Story

Meredith L. Frantz, Ed.D., is a former special education administrator with experience in all aspects of special education supports and services.  Dr. Frantz has 23 years experience working in the K-12 school setting as an emotional support teacher, learning support teacher, high school supervisor of special education, and elementary supervisor of special education.

After receiving her master's degree in Exceptionalities from Bloomsburg University in 1999, Dr. Frantz began her career in special education. Dr. Frantz began her teaching career as an emotional support teacher for adjudicated males ages 14-21. Eventually, she transitioned to serving as an emotional support teacher at the middle school level for grades 5-8. While working at the middle school level, Dr. Frantz chose to further her education by earning her Supervisory Certificate. With the prospect of moving into a leadership position, Dr. Frantz recognized that transition planning was an area of growth for her skill set. In 2006, she moved into a learning support position for students in grades 9-12. It. was during that year that her passion for transition planning bloomed.

In 2007, Dr. Frantz moved into a leadership position with the Bethlehem Area School District. For two and a half years, she worked as the high school supervisor of special education. Within that position, she was able to grow her skill set in working with teachers, parents, students and outside agencies. She discovered a strength in professional development and increasing inclusive practices.

Following her time in the Bethlehem Area School District, in 2010, Dr. Frantz moved into a lateral position in the East Penn School District. During that time, Dr. Frantz worked with a team of teachers and families at the secondary level in collaboration with PaTTAN's Project AAchieve.  Project AAchieve focused on promoting the successful transition to post-secondary education for students with autism spectrum disorder. Serving on the Project AAchieve initiative further solidified her passion for transition planning and successful outcomes.  Additionally, Dr. Frantz was able to work collaboratively with Intermediate Unit staff and outside agencies such as OVR and Goodwill Industries within the Project Search initiative. Dr. Frantz was able to obtain a first hand understanding of the skill set needed for students with disabilities to be successful within competitive employment.

To further her knowledge, Dr. Frantz enrolled in Immaculata University's Educational Leadership Doctorate program. Within the program, she completed the requirements to obtain her Principal Certification. For her dissertation research, Dr. Frantz investigated the parent perspective on the transition planning process. As a result, she discovered that parents did not have the knowledge to assist with transition planning.  Her research also showed that students need to have access to a rigorous curriculum within the regular classroom environment in order to be successful in the post-secondary education setting.  Dr. Frantz successfully defended her dissertation in November of 2021.

Dr. Frantz possesses the knowledge and experience to assist students and families in reaching transition planning outcomes.  She continues to be fueled by her passion for assisting students with disabilities achieve their goals.
